- It’s been a busy week supporting a customer with an issue, involving some late calls and emails with west-coast Americans. It’s fairly rare so I don’t mind the extra time too much. And thankfully it wasn’t related to the Crowdstrike IT outage.
- I took my Cambridge team out for dinner this week. We had a new starter, someone visiting from the US and someone returning home to the US, so I went for traditional British food at The Architect pub which specialises in pie-and-mash and fish-and-chips.
- On Thursday I joined Andy, Matt and Mike for The Manics and Suede double header at Alexandra Palace. They played the hits and their songs sound as good as ever even if they’re 30+ years old now. Last year we saw Blur at Wembley; I very much look forward to next year’s big nineties indie gig.
- The downside was our unreliable train network. When I arrived at the station on my down I found that all trains were cancelled so I had to share a £60 taxi fare with another gig-goer. And then on the way back home I only just caught the one stopping service heading north. Pretty much every trip into London this year has involved travel drama.
- After the builders debacle last month that failed to fix my uneven garden office my dad and I had a go. We slid some ceramic tiles under the supports to stop it from dropping further. The floor feels more level and I’m hopeful it’s less likely to collapse now. While the workmen gave up at the first inconvenience we persevered.
- I’m off to Munich for work on Monday. Back soon.
